County of Monterey



The Auditor-Controller is the Auditor and the Chief Fiscal Officer of the County. The office is elected by Monterey County voter to provide accounting, budget control, and financial services to the County, county agencies, school districts, special districts, and cities as defined under Government Code.

Rupa Shah, C.P.A., has diligently served the County of Monterey since 1997. Prior to being elected to the Office of Auditor-Controller, Rupa served as the Assistant Auditor-Controller, Chief Deputy Auditor-Controller over General Accounting and Reporting, Chief Deputy of Internal Audit, and an Internal Auditor within the Office of the Auditor-Controller.
